We wish to inform you about upcoming changes in the .MY Domain Name Lifecycle, which will affect Billing Cycle. Effective 1st February 2024, we will be introducing Auto Renew Grace Period upon domain expiry.

What is Auto Renew Grace Period?

This means your domain name will be automatically renewed to 1 year upon expiry and reflected as “auto renew period” at WHOIS domain status. This period varies according to Registrars, up to 45 days for domain holders to pay for the domain renewal, where your domain is still active.

.MY Auto Renew Grace Period

For .MY domain names, Auto Renew Grace Period is set at 40 days upon expiry. Your domain names will still be active for the first 30 days, and then be suspended for the next 10 days if left unpaid. Refer diagram below:

Subsequently, your domain will automatically enter the Redemption Grace Period for 30 days, during which you still have the option to renew it for an additional redemption fee. Beyond this grace period, renewing your domain name will no longer be possible as it enters the Pending Delete phase, which lasts for 5 days. Following the completion of the Pending Delete phase, the domain will be permanently deleted and returned to the public market.

During Auto Renew Grace Period, your domain name expiry date in MYNIC WHOIS will temporarily display an extension of 1 year. It will revert to the original expiry date when no payment is received within 40 days.

The new .MY domain name billing cycle will also apply to .MY Premium Domain Names.
