We would like to provide you with a few updates regarding MYNIC WHOIS.

Introduction of Timestamps

.MY domain names lifecycle is transitioning from date-based to timestamp-based. This is in line with international domain name practices.

Following this transition, your .MY domain name’s lifecycle will be accurate to the minute. For example: If you register a .MY domain name on 8 January 2023, 1.23 PM, it will expire on 8 January 2024, 1.23 PM (assuming a 1-year subscription).

Starting 21 September 2023, MYNIC WHOIS will display timestamps (in both Malaysia & UTC time) for domain registration, domain expiration and domain last update.

Introduction of Domain Status

Beginning 21 September 2023, MYNIC WHOIS will begin to display Domain Status to help you understand the current state of your domain name.

Overall, 14 types of status will be introduced depending on your domain name’s current state. Visit our website to learn more on the status definitions.

Improved results for unregistered domains

We have refined our WHOIS status messages with a more insightful and accurate results for queries made in MYNIC WHOIS. The previous general “No result found for .my” has now been replaced with more specific results that cater to different scenarios. This change has been implemented on 8 August 2023.

Did you know?

Currently, .MY domain names are suspended a day after their expiry date. Starting 21 September 2023, with the introduction of timestamps for domain creation and expiry, .MY domain names will be suspended a minute after its expiry timestamp.

Kindly renew your domain name before its expiry date to avert potential issues that may result from your domain names’ suspension.
