PUCHONG, Selangor Darul Ehsan, 15 Feb 2019 - For Malaysia to continue progressing in its developmental path, the digital economy is poised to be the new driver to navigate towards the future. The digital economy is an emerging trend in the global business landscape, with an increasing number of individual, organisations, companies and investors adopting digitized information and knowledge as key success factors in achieving their business goals.
The Coffee with YB Minister KKMM event was held in Lelong.my Education Centre Puchong and the dialogue is initiated by MYNIC & Interbase Resource Sdn Bhd (Lelong.my). This collaboration is in support of KKMM’s Strategic Plan 2019 – 2023 for the Digital Economy Ecosystem. MYNIC is holding an important role in driving Digital Economy and ICT towards becoming a developed country by rendering its role as the Domain Registry that manages .my domain name which is one of the critical enablers in the Digital Economy Ecosystem.
It was officiated by YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of KKMM and attended by KKMM’s Senior Management, YBhg. Datuk Hasnul Fadhly Hasan, Chief Executive Officer MYNIC and Mr. Richard Tan, Co-Founder and Managing Director Interbase Resources Sdn Bhd (Lelong.my). The program is an initiative of MYNIC & Lelong.my to approach the public directly and enable businesses to adopt and establish their online businesses and branding.
“In the rise of digital economy, it is important for individuals and businesses to decide on the right digital identity for them, and choosing a Malaysian identity now bears greater significance than ever before,” said Datuk Hasnul Fadhly Hasan, Chief Executive Officer of MYNIC.
At the same event, Lelong.my also conducted training Class 101: Everybody can sell online for 100 participants to learn about the e-commerce platform and tips for online selling. The training participants will be offered a special package to go online and they also will be provided with an e-marketplace for them to market their product.
Mr. Richard Tan, MD Lelong.my said, “Our goals are to continue to play a significant role in the digital ecosystem by empowering and equipping local businesses for the digital economy. As a part of 2019 initiatives, we planned to conduct 100 trainings and classes which will accommodate to provide opportunity for more than 2,000 local businesses”.
This initiative is to entice the potential target group and will benefit the offline entrepreneurs to go online with minimum entry cost. The e-marketplace will further ease and expedite the existing offline entrepreneurs of going online on a proven platform. This will enable the merchants to sell their products online and they can further expand their business in the future.
Added Datuk Hasnul, “We want to prepare the nation for a digital future and make sure that we are able to unlock the opportunities of the digital innovation to drive the digital economy as a core economic pillar of the country. This collaboration is also focusing to sub urban and rural micro especially B40 group. MYNIC will give full support to provide an all-rounded support technology such as digital readiness to the users of .MY to make sure they stay ahead of global challenges in the digital economy”.
Mr. Richard added,” For offline businesses in Malaysia, it is important for businesses to leverage on digital presence to enable them with more opportunities to expand locally and globally. Hence, the initiative & collaboration with MYNIC for .my domain name will help to uplift and bring added value to local entrepreneurs and businesses to market and expand their products in our digital ecosystem”.
MYNIC will strive to enable and empower businesses and industries to be part of the digital economy through the development of domain name industry as part of ICT infrastructure in Malaysia.
